Patricia McFADDEN (eSwatini)
Feminist, sociologist, educator and writer

Radical African feminist, sociologist, educator and writer, Patricia McFadden is an alumna of the University of Dar es Salaam, hailing from the Kingdom of eSwatini (before April 2018 known originally as Swaziland). She attended both primary and secondary schools in Swaziland where she also had her bachelor degree at the University of Botswana and Swaziland (UBS). This was in the early 1960s. In 1967, she gained admission at the University of Dar es Salaam for a master’s degree in Sociology. This was a time in Tanzania of growing internationalist ideas profuse campus and student politics, 


Bertram B.B. MAPUNDA
Principal of Jordan University College in Morogoro

Bertram Baltasar Mapunda?current Principal of Jordan University College in Morogoro—is our ‘UDSM Alumnus of the Month’ for August 2021. He was born on the 26th day of September 1957 in Lukali village in Lituhi, Nyasa district (Ruvuma region), where he obtained his primary education.  He moved on to Likonde Seminary in Mbinga district for both O-Level and A-Level of secondary education which was obtainable at the same school from Form I (1975/6) through VI (1981). Upon completion of secondary Form VI, he joined the Dar es Salaam College of Education for a two-year diploma
